Meet Melanie, a dedicated Bilingual Client Support Coordinator who had excelled in her role for 17 years. When she found herself at a career crossroads, feelings of uncertainty and doubt began to creep in. Fortunately, her former employer provided career transition support through Thrive, and her journey to realizing her career potential began.
What was your previous role like?
I am a Bilingual Client Support Coordinator and with the help of Thrive, I learned about myself, the job world and how to tweak my personal brand to be seen and really hone in to what I want in the job world.
When you first heard about Thrive, what were some of your initial doubts or fears?
My fear was that I haven't done anything like this before in my 17 years. It was the first time that I was in a place where I didn't know where to start and where to go and lost myself in the process. Thrive really opened my eyes to help me find who I was, I had an amazing coach and doing the webinars and meeting new people that felt the way I did, left me feeling less alone and that I can get out of the funk I was in, I learned a lot about myself and what I wanted to accomplish.
What was you initial impression when you joined Thrive?
I had mixed feelings, overwhelmed but excited at all the resources available. I loved the webinars but I would have liked an integrated calendar to keep track of the courses that I've taken and the ones coming up.
How did working with Thrive differ from past transitions?
It was very hands on and helpful. Having Thrive really does set you up for success. It was very welcoming and so many things to explore and there's always help right there when you need it.
What outcomes did working with Thrive yield for you?
It's eye opening knowing that your work life didn't end. There are jobs out there that will give you that chance if you want to have career transition or stick to what you know, and the tools and people are there to help you evolve and brighten your process to achieve results.
What do you like most about our platform?
I liked the webinars and the job searches, you can add your favourites then organize yourself to where you're at in the application process or interview and lastly if you got the job, there's also a lot more job search platforms that I didn't know about, and its cool that employers can see your resume and reach out if you fit their needs.
What would you say to employers on the fence about using Thrive for their outgoing employees?
Don't hesitate to give this type of exposure to your outgoing employees, It's really hard to suddenly not work anymore, and they will appreciate that even though things didn't work out, you still want to look out for them and respect them as individuals for their hard work and dedication they gave you so they can find a better suited job.
